The Space City 10 miler has come and gone for another year. I had no idea how hard to run given the surgery and my lack of training, but I ended up pleased. The plan was to run at 7 min miles for 5 miles and then see how it felt. I ran 6:56 pace for the first 5 and then picked up to 6:39 pace for the next 5. I ended up finishing hard because Rob Walters (who was not "racing") came up with less than a mile to go and was cruising in. I went with him, but he kept picking up the pace in order to make me feel like crud (it worked Rob). Oh well, it was good to push myself a bit.

I ended up with 43 miles for the week and hope to be in the 50's this week. No speed or tempo work for a month or so. The pollen count (ragweed) seems worse than Springtime. It is causing more problems than the knee.

What a horrible weekend for football. I am an Aggie. The Aggies "played" Texas Tech. Enough said there. I live in Houston and cheer for the Texans. They looked less then stellar in defeat versus Jacksonville. Finally, I grew up in Dallas and like the Cowboys. They were no match for the Patriots. I was really hoping for at least one of three. None of them even came close.

I should find a picture to post. OK - Las Vegas pics win.

I was training well last week until the pollen got me. OK, it might have been a cold. Either way, I bagged a 20k race that I was going to run in Dallas and just took off several days. I hope to have the mileage up in the mid 50's and then on up into the 60's. Once I get through October I will speed up a bit with some quality workouts on weeks where there is no race.
